I was home alone today. I don’t mean for an hour or two – I mean ALL DAY…on a weekend…without kids…or husband. Nobody. Just me and the dogs. Did you hear that? Yeah, me neither – total peace and quiet! No “hey mom” or “Amy, can you” just – nothing. For anyone who lives with anyone else – being alone in your own home on a day where you don’t have to work is a treasure. This has only happened once before for me, so I am soaking it in.
What, you ask, did I do on this fine day home alone? Whatever the hell I wanted, that’s what! I exercised, took a shower AND shaved my legs, cleaned out and organized the cabinet under my sink, made some lemon truffles, purchased tickets for a family trip this summer to the U.K., signed up for Plated, watched Scandal, started this blog and ate Mexican food. A rather lame day now that I type it but for me it was simply perfect.
Following this banner day, I get to sleep, undisturbed by children before waking up tomorrow to the first day of Spring Break with my kids. I have a strong feeling this is the calm before the storm of this week but I will take it.
Thanks to my husband’s employer for requiring him to travel on a Sunday and to my parents for suggesting they take the kids for the day and night.
