Home

I haven’t written much about my job here on the blog. I have a somewhat odd but wonderful job where I talk to strangers about stuff and then report back to clients to help them build their business. There is a lot more to it but that is the simplest explanation. I travel a lot for this work and when I am not traveling I work from home. This has its challenges but that’s a different blog post, LOL!

Another aspect to my job is that all of my work is project based meaning I can take or turn away projects a I wish. It’s a great gig but unfortunately, I don’t get paid if I don’t take projects, SO….I take a lot of projects! So many that in the past 12 months I sort of lost my way on all the different roles I play in my life. Plus, I had zero time for my own interests. In short I was living to work instead of working to live.

So, I decided early in the school year last year that I would take the summer off to hang out with my kids and try to reconnect, reprioritize and relax. After all, why work and make money if there isn’t time to enjoy it?! And since early June, I have been doing just that.

It’s been an adjustment for sure – less email, more play dates; fewer phone calls more popsicles; less managing more refereeing! While we have been having a great time, the best is yet to come as we venture off to the U.K. in just under two weeks to visit friends in London and Cornwall. I will be blogging about our adventures during our trip but in the meantime, here are some of the ways we have been blowing off steam this summer!
